How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya?

How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya if you just arrived and don’t know where to go and what to do? What to choose, bus or taxi? How long does the road take and how much does it cost? I will answer all questions in this post.

In the first part, I will figure out the way from the airport to Pattaya by two types of buses and taxi. In the second - I will talk about ways to get from bus stations and other points in Bangkok, in the third - about the exotic way of getting on the train.

The location of the various bus stations in Pattaya, I indicated on the map at the end of the post.

How to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya?

There are two airports in the capital of Thailand: the main one is Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang . All overseas long-haul flights arrive at the main airport, while Don Mueang is mainly used by low-cost airlines for flights from neighboring countries, for example, Air Asia flies here. There are domestic flights from both airports, it depends on the airline.

Thus, flying out of Russia, you will arrive in Suvarnabhumi - it is a huge airport, from where it is easy to get to the city center and bus stations, and immediately to some cities of the country too. You have two options for the route to Pattaya: a bus and a taxi.

Shuttle bus

There is one very convenient way to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport directly to your hotel in Pattaya (and not to the bus station). Transportation company Bell Travel Service.

Airport shuttle

Bus cost: 280 baht

Travel time: about 2 hours (depending on traffic on the roads)

Bus schedule Suvarnabhumi-Pattaya : 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00

How to find a stop at the airport: look for the Bell Travel Service sign at level 1 (Level 1), at exit 7 (Gate 7). Show the printout of the electronic ticket to the employees, they spend or show a stop (it is on Level 2).

How to buy a ticket: online at company official website online on a Russian-> 12go asia or using the search form below:

First you will be taken from the airport to the bus station in Pattaya, and from there you will be transported to hotels by minivans (the list of hotels will be in the third step when buying, there is a huge list of hotels there). Both transfers are included in the price.

Drop-down list of hotels when buying through the site

Important points:

  • This option is ideal for one or two people. Excellent value for travel time and price. If you are three or more, consider a taxi option, I wrote about it below. The cost will not be much more expensive, but without transfers and comfort more.
  • Please note that if your hotel is somewhere far away in the outskirts of Pattaya, then they may take an additional fee, they will definitely be taken to the main tourist areas.
  • The company has no prices for children or the elderly, if the child is on his knees, then he does not need to buy a separate seat. You can take a bag of up to 20 kg with you in your luggage + carry-on baggage. If there is more baggage, you will have to pay a little extra.
  • If your flight is late, then the ticket for the transfer to Pattaya will be lost, you cannot return it.

You can get back in the same way.

Schedule back from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport: 06:00, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00. Accordingly, a minivan will pick you up from the hotel a little earlier, in half an hour or an hour.

Bus number 389

Is there some more # 389 buses from Roong Reuang Coach , where you can get from the airport to Pattaya, but they come to the bus station on Tappraya street. So this is not the fastest and most convenient way, but cheap. With all transfers, the time from arrival to check-in at the hotel is about 4 hours.

The cost of the bus number 389: 130 baht

Travel time: about 2 hours (depending on traffic on the roads)

Bus schedule : 05:30, 06:30, 07:00 and then every hour until 20:00 inclusive. Flights at 21:00 and at 22:00 are carried out only to the northern bus station, it is further from the center.

How to find the ticket office at the airport: look for the Roong Reuang Coach sign at level 1 (Level 1), at exit 8 (Gate 8). It is there that they sell tickets, then the staff will tell you everything.

Upon arrival at the bus station in Pattaya you will be met by tuk-tuk drivers, arrange with them about a trip to your hotel, it will cost 50-150 baht depending on the location. The regular regular songteos (minibuses) ply nearby, they cost only 10 baht.

Taxi from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya

For a large company or a family with children, I advise you to order an individual transfer. If you arrive at night, then this is generally the only option to get to the hotel. The benefit is a taxi is not so expensive.

Taxis from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya will cost from 1,500 baht per car. You can order a transfer at special racks at the airport or even go outside. But best still from home order a taxi online . The convenience is that you can pick up a car of the required capacity (even for two, at least 10 people), you will already know the price, moreover, you can also pay in advance so as not to waste time at the airport for currency exchange. A taxi driver will meet you with a sign in the arrivals area, so don’t get lost, the airport is really huge :)

If you divide 1500 baht into four people, for example, then you get 375 baht. And this at the cost of a shuttle bus of 300 baht. The overpayment is small, but you will arrive comfortably in an hour and a half!

Below I will tell you about the methods of getting to Pattaya if you are not at Suvarnabhumi Airport, but already in Bangkok itself. Prior to this, we arrived in the capital from another region, flew to Don Mueang airport or explored the sights of the city , for example.

Bus Bangkok Pattaya

There are several points of departure from Bangkok: the eastern Ekkamai bus station, the northern Mo Chit bus station, the tourist street of Khaosan , and the offices of transport companies. You can choose both large buses and minivans.

Travel time is about 3 hours, also depends on traffic jams in the city, here it is a frequent occurrence.

From Ekkamai Station: Big buses leave at 13:30 and at 17:30

From Mo Chit station: large buses at 13:00 and 18:30, minivans at 06:00, 10:30, 12:00, 13:30, 16:00, 18:00

Tickets: for buses 160 baht, for minivans 200 baht.

How to buy tickets: at the station before departure or in advance on the website 12go.asia

I wrote in more detail about how to get to Bangkok bus stations and where you can leave from them in a separate post .

There is also a lot of transport from Khaosan Road, it costs more, but you don’t have to get to the bus stations in the huge metropolis. Plus, such transfers are delivered to the offices of the respective companies immediately in the center of Pattaya, Jomtien and other popular areas.

Taxi Bangkok Pattaya

Taxis from the city will cost a little more than from the airport, the distance is more plus driving in traffic jams. Count on 1700-1800 baht per car. But then you can order a car from a double point in the city: directly to the doors of the hotel / guesthouse or from Don Mueang airport, for example.

Moving around the capital takes a lot of time and effort. The journey by public transport will take you approximately this: an hour and a half to get to the station in Bangkok + 3 hours to Pattaya + half an hour or an hour to the hotel shuttle. Total 5 hours at best. A taxi will be twice as fast.

You can order a transfer at this link on the site we checked.

Train bangkok pattaya

At the end, keep another way that is suitable for those who have very little money, but a lot of free time. Or for the "train geeks" :)

There are two trains and both depart from the capital very early:

Train No. 283 (Ordinary): 06: 55-10: 34

Train No. 283 (Rapid): 06: 45-09: 13

Ticket price is only 31 baht! You will ride with a breeze in a third-class carriage. Personally, we really like Thai trains and third grade, seriously. But for short distances.

The main railway station in Bangkok is called Hualampong and is located near Chinatown. You can get there by metro (terminal station) or city buses. The railway station in Pattaya is far from the center, but you can walk to the nearest songteo stop and go to the center, or by taxi.
